Our Clients
Homecare Services provides social support, respite care and domestic
assistance services to Home and Community Care (HACC) eligible clients.
HACC eligible clients are people who are frail aged or who have a
permanent disability.
We provide services to all HACC eligible clients however we focus on services
to people with a mental illness.
Homecare Services is currently funded by HACC to provide services to
people living in the
We were the first private organisation in Western Australia to be granted HACC funding.
We also provide in-home support services for veterans and war
widow/widowers. More information about these services may be obtained from the
Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) on 133 254.
Our Services
We provide social
support, respite care, and domestic assistance services.
Social support may
include keeping a person company and participating in community activities. Any client
activity costs (such as entrance fees) are usually met by the client.
Respite Care
provides carers with ‘time out’ from
their caring role and the opportunity to pursue other activities and interests.
Homecare Services
also undertakes domestic assistance duties including cleaning, vacuuming,
clothes washing, and shopping.
Homecare Services
supports the Wellness approach to community home care which aims to help
maintain (if not increase) the independence of clients, and builds on a
client’s abilities and strengths. The Wellness approach is meant to enhance the
independence, health and wellbeing of clients. It is an initiative of the Department
of Health’s Home and Community Care (HACC) program.
HACC funded services attract a standard hourly fee (usually $8.00 per
hour) dependent on level of income. All fees and costs are discussed and agreed
beforehand. Homecare Services reduces or waives fees where these would cause
financial hardship.
Health Access Program
The Health Access Program (HAP) is designed to assist people with
disability to better access health care for physical illness.
Homecare Services provides the Health Access Program as a social support
service under the Department of Health’s Home and Community Care (HACC)
program. HACC eligible clients are people who are frail aged or who have a
permanent disability. Our current focus
is on assisting people with mental illness / psychiatric disability.
The HAP can assist clients with the following;

attending the Street Doctor
-
obtaining a General Practitioner (GP)
-
making appointments with their GP
-
assistance in attending appointments
-
assistance with follow ups eg attending prescribed
diagnostic testing, scans etc
-
providing a reminder service about appointments
Please note that clients of the HAP must require more than just
transport assistance. Other service providers are able to assist with transport
– for details please contact Carelink on 1800 052 222.
Weekend
Fun!
Weekend Fun! provides weekend leisure activities for small groups of 2 -
4 people, based on participant’s interests.
Activities are almost unlimited and may include going to the movies,
attending football games and other sporting events, walking along scenic routes
such as the river, going for a picnic, visiting the markets, and attending
music concerts.
Groups for various outings are put together based on common interests in
the chosen activities. A Support Worker from Homecare Services will liaise with
the participants beforehand and will look after any bookings or other
requirements, as well as provide transport and attend the weekend outing.
Participants pay for any activity costs such as entrance fees. Homecare
Services covers all staff member costs and provides transport when public or
other transport is not utilised.
Obtaining Services
Homecare Services makes obtaining services an easy process. Simply call
us on 9228 8877. One of our support staff will ask you a few straightforward
questions to determine eligibility and to confirm available resources*. Then an appointment will be made
with you for a Coordinator to visit.
At the meeting with our Coordinator, service details will be determined
with you and some brief paperwork completed. Any fees and charges will be fully
discussed and agreed at this time.
After this a Support Worker is appointed, service details are confirmed
with you, and services commence.
*Please note that
waitlists exist due to high demand for services in most areas.

Referrals
Homecare Services welcomes referrals (with the client’s agreement) from
other agencies and professionals. Homecare Services makes a Referral Form

Our Staff
All staff of Homecare Services undergo an interview, referee checking,
and National Police and Traffic clearances.
We recruit staff who demonstrate competence through experience, relevant
qualifications and/or training. We seek to only recruit staff who are
considered to have personal values that are conducive to providing quality
care, and who will enhance the dignity of clients at all times.
We work closely with other agencies and professionals including general
practitioners, staff from public and private hospitals, and other specialist
aged, disability, and mental health service providers and professionals.
The staff of Homecare Services contribute to a better environment by
undertaking a number of recognised “green initiatives”. These include using long life low wattage light bulbs in the
office, recycling paper, cardboard, all mobile phones, and printer toners, not
having an office photocopier, and turning power points off at night therefore
not leaving equipment such as printers, computers and monitors in standby mode
(unnecessarily using power) etc. Other new initiatives will be added over time.
